Abstract

PART I

The creation and the content of the “Digital Collections” (Chrysoula Chaziraki)

Starting with a brief historical overview of the creation of the Library of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTh) and the enrichment of its collections, this presentation highlights at the same time the reasons that deemed necessary the existence of the specific digital repository of the Library and Information Center (LIC), known as “Digital Collections.” The presentation continues with information about how to access them while referring to the most important holdings of these collections.

PART II

The “Emmanuel Kriaras Archive” in the “Digital Collections” (Stathis Amanatidis)

This presentation focuses on the digital collection “Emmanuel Kriaras Archive”, which is hosted in the digital repository of the LIC of AUTh, known as the “Digital Collections”: https://digital.lib.auth.gr/. The digital database of the “Emmanuel Kriaras Archive” constitutes a successful synergy example between the Institute of Modern Greek Studies (IMGS) and the LIC of AUTh. The LIC of AUTh participated actively in this valuable Greek literature and language project with qualified staff who undertook the digitization and metadata description of the “Emmanuel Kriaras Archive”, based on current international standards. The database, which significantly enhanced the AUTh open access literary and educational materials, was created thanks to the crucial funding provided by the Stavros Niarchos Foundation.
