Welcome
The Digital Humanities Lab “PSIFIS” of the Faculty of Philosophy at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki was established in 2016 as a result of the collaboration between the School of English Language and Literature, the School of French Language and Literature, and the School of Philosophy, Philology and Pedagogy; it serves as an interdisciplinary and collaborative space for the exchange of opinions and ideas, training and creativity, in the field of Digital Humanities, which nowadays develops rapidly all around the world.
Digital Humanities serve as a meeting point for process methodologies and heuristic tools, by placing emphasis on collectivity for the creation of an open, hospitable, multilingual and multidisciplinary community of solidarity for the practice of Humanities, Social Sciences and the arts. The object of research for the DHLab is to develop interdisciplinary digital approaches in the research objectives of the Humanities and Social Sciences and Arts as well as establishing further collaborations with departments, laboratories, research centers in Greece and other countries.
We believe everyone has something to say
In order to fulfil this aim, the DHLab aims to develop and distribute technical skills and to integrate them in the individual projects, to access special software and to spread technical knowledge and experience through workshops, speeches, information days, conferences and common projects. Students’ participation is highlighted in order to create a group of young scientists who shall participate in this emerging field with excellence and effectiveness; this group shall focus on methodological reflection, on evaluating materials and products in the field as well as on forming study programs.
The DHLab focuses indicatively on:
